Royal sailing on the Beatrix

Sailing is at royal standards on board our newest acquisition, the Beatrix: a fast and stable catamaran that has been baptized by Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands and put into service in 2006. This fully adapted ship meets all the requirements to be expected of a modern tailormade vessel.

Active sailing with all comfort at hand
This well-organized ship has been designed especially to be sailed by people with a disability. All sails can be operated from a wheelchair. Steering is possible with awheel froman elevated platform, as well as with a joystick. The vessel has the newest gadgets, including facilities for visually disabled persons, like Braille cards and an audio compass.

The pleasant tours on the Frisian waters and the IJsselmeer start in Elahuizen. The sailing schedule is determined jointly on a daily basis: one day it can be a long sailing trip, the next one you can be visiting some Frisian towns and have a relaxing time. Sailing at night, hiking trips, barbecuing at a small island – it’s all possible. And of course all this in consultation with the guests, as water sport holidays on board the Beatrix mean a group tourwhere individual wishes are taken into consideration.

Ideal for small groups, friends and families
The Beatrix offers space for 12 guests, including a maximum of 4 wheelchair users. It contains a large special toilet (adaptable in height) and has a cosy saloonwith a well equipped kitchen. Our new accommodation in Elahuizen, It Sailhûs, is available for overnight stays. It is simple, but spacious and comfortable. And, of course, it has all the necessary adaptations.

Whoever you are, whatever your possibilities: on board the Beatrix everybody can manage!
